Do you need to make an insurance claim?

That’s fine, we’re here to help! As your broker, we work on your behalf to ensure the claim is attended to as quickly and efficiently as possible whilst ensuring the insurer settles your claim in a fair and reasonable manner.

The SES is a volunteer organisation and is designed to help communities in times or emergency and disaster such as flood and storms.

 

The telephone number is a National number back to the State Emergency Service in your state.

 

If during working hours, call our office for direction.

 

If after hours, refer to the emergency numbers provided for assistance.

The sooner we have all the necessary information the quicker we can lodge the claim on your behalf and manage the claim for you.

In the unfortunate event of a loss:

 

– DO NOT admit liability or enter discussion of who is or is not at fault, agree to settle or promise anything. Let your insurer sort that out.

– Do not dispose of any damaged items without the insurer or their representative inspecting the item first.

Call the police

 

Give the police as much information as possible. Information should include:

– Year,Make, Model, Colour of your vehicle, registration and VIN number

– Details of any other information you may have had in the vehicle

Notify our office of the loss

– Most insurers will offer Vehicle hire for a specified period if you are comprehensively insured. Our office will be able to advise you on your options.

– If your car is recovered the insurer will either repair your vehicle or write it off and pay you for the value which is covered.

 

What NOT to do in the event of a claim

 

In the unfortunate event of a loss:

 

– DO NOT admit liability or enter discussion of who is or is not at fault, agree to settle or promise anything. Let your insurer sort that out.

– You may take the vehicle to a repairer to obtain a quote, however, do not authorise repairs or replacement of any item without the insurers consent.

– Do not dispose of any damaged items without the insurer or their representative inspecting the item first.

Call 000 for Police/Ambulance/Emergency Services in the following circumstances

 

– If there has been an injury or fatality

– If the other party is acting in a threatening manner, refuses to supply their details or fails to stop at the scene.

– There is a hazardous situation that may cause danger to the public

– A driver appears under the influence of drugs or alcohol

 

 

Obtain Third Party details including

 

– Swapping details with the third party such as Name, Address and Mobile Number

– Vehicle description and registration number

– Photo of the licence of the driver

– Details of insurer/policy number if available

– Not the location of the accident

– Name, Address and Phone Number of any witnesses

– Police name and station

– Any photographic evidence captured by You at the time of accident

– Notify our office of the loss

– If your insurer offers “Accident Hire vehicle option” and you have elected and paid for this cover extension, you may be entitled to a hire car after an accident. Our office will be able to advise you on your options.
